SMT Section Head


  • The section head is responsible for the management and development of the SMT production team.
  • Report to the Manufacturing Manager.
  • Ensures proper development of the requirements plan and the execution of the plan throughout the operation.
  • Assist supply chain department in developing manufacturing programs to improve lead time, responsiveness and reliability of operation information.
  • Assist in management of business development to ensure the coordinated development, implementation and measurement of programs to support company strategies.
  • Develop strategy programs to upgrade the section performance.
  • Coordinate and ensure the quality of development, training, implementation and modification of systems and processes to support business objectives.
  • Develop and monitor process edit reports to ensure that system settings and controls are properly aligned with business objectives and system requirements.
  • Provide guidance to operations team in the process of developing and monitoring project timelines for new product launches.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and suggest and implement improvements as necessary.
  • Build relationships and interact with other departments to improve communication, process, and total business execution.
  • Recruit, retain and develop team members.
  • Demonstrate abilities and knowledge in the operation of a production facility, including machine scheduling, trouble-shooting and general maintenance.
  • Work with the rest of the plant management team to implement strategic improvement initiatives in the production area, to include quality, efficiency and employee satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

  • Thorough knowledge of SMT processes and equipment.
  • Schedule all machines, including preventative maintenance, and work with commercial department to accommodate customer demands.
  • Achieve efficiency, uptime and optimization for SMT machines and downstream equipment.
  • Work jointly with quality staff to determine root cause and corrective action for non-conformances.
  • Lead and facilitate a positive and productive team-oriented work environment.
  • Provide leadership and support in problem-solving activities in production area.
  • Recommend innovative solutions to manufacturing and or maintenance problems.
  • Develop and maintains ongoing quality and production efforts.
    Responsible for all job functions in the production department, tooling and process engineering.
  • Develop group leaders’ abilities to build and supervise effective teams.
  • Take appropriate action when machine or safety problems develop, or notify management if necessary.
  • Resolve employee relation issues; coach and counsel employees as needed.
  • Investigate new ways to improve the operation of the production department.
  • Occasional traveling to other facilities as needed.

Requirements :

  • Degree in Manufacturing with 5 year working experience in similar environment.
  • Diploma in Manufacturing with 7 years working experience in similar environment.
