ESCATEC support development of Chips 4 Light's high-intensity LED module

Chips 4 Light is a major innovator and distributor within the European LED and laser diode component market. Their technology supports industries that require robust and intense lighting solutions from medical devices to industrial complexes and sports stadiums.

Chips 4 Light wanted to design and manufacture a new generation of ultra-bright, energy-efficient LED modules to meet growing demand in the high-performance lighting sector.

Their Sevengine module is a compact component offering advanced optical efficiency and flexibility for developers. It’s aimed at specialised lighting applications where high light output and control are required in miniaturised form.

The Challenge

To develop this module, Chips 4 Light needed not only a high level of optical efficiency but also an exceptionally narrow beam angle of 20°, essential for applications needing focused, high-power illumination.

And they needed a design and development partner to make it happen.

Why Chips 4 Light chose ESCATEC

ESCATEC’s blend of advanced design and manufacturing capabilities, particularly in micro-assembly, optical engineering, and LED technology, made them the natural choice as partner for Chips 4 Light.

We believe that the professional and competent collaboration drove exceptional results, leading to high-quality products that empower our customers to succeed.

The Solution

ESCATEC offers full support from design to production

Advanced TIR lens technology

At the heart of ESCATEC’s solution was their Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens technology, which directly bonds the lens onto the LED chip using a silicone layer. This eliminated air gaps and maximised optical efficiency at around 95%, achieving powerful brightness within a minimal footprint.

Thermal and optical engineering

The design process included custom thermal simulations and optical alignment, essential for the module’s high-efficiency performance. This ensured the module could operate reliably in harsh environments with continuous high-output demands, like stadium lighting.

Prototyping and volume production

ESCATEC supported Chips 4 Light through prototyping, providing feedback to refine the design for manufacturability (DFM). Once finalised, ESCATEC seamlessly transitioned to volume production, consistently delivering units that met Chips 4 Light’s high-quality standards.

The Sevengine module at a glance:
