JJS Electronics has continued its investment programme with the acquisition of additional test facilities. The latest addition is a Takaya APT‐9411 flying probe system. Ideal for a wide range of applications, this flexible, fixtureless, test technique is an important part of the EMS provider’s offering as it continues to attract a number of high‐reliability and safety critical projects.
These projects require high levels of confidence in the end product and as such, flying probe is a useful test technique for whole batches, samples, field returns or functional test failures. Additional flying probe capacity enables the JJS team to test low to medium volume, high complexity products where the cost of developing functional test is prohibitive or where fault finding would be difficult. The flexible technique is also ideal for instances where an ICT fixture is too expensive or there is no access to the PCB. The flying probe can now be quickly deployed to root out manufacturing defects before they become critical.

After an extensive evaluation period, JJS engineers selected the marketleading Takaya APT‐9411 on the basis of its exceptional reliability, test speed, accuracy and ease of programming. Other drivers included the fact that programming complements the Siemens PLM EM Test Expert software in which JJS already has extensive experience. The company’s Aster TPQR software also ties in with Test Expert, boosting programme optimisation and providing comprehensive coverage reports to further drive process transparency and customer confidence.
